Biophilic Interiors - expert advice
Showerscape was born from the appreciation of the great outdoors in 2014 - our main aim has always been to Bring the Outdoors In (like our brand strapline has always suggested!)
The images we choose in our standard ranges are mainly based around the appreciation of nature, landscapes and animals. Incorporating our natural surroundings in the home adds meaning, peace, and a feeling of tranquility that can’t really be achieved any other way.
Ian and I have always had an appreciation for the natural world and the great outdoors - hence why we chose to be in Wales rather than the Leicestershire suburbs 10 years ago!
Not everyone can up-sticks and move to the Countryside, but you can bring a piece of that to wherever you are in the UK using our shower panels in your bathroom to create your own getaway from the pressures of modern life.
Here are a few top tips of how you can use Biophilic interior design in your bathroom (or other rooms in your home) to create a special space to retreat to:
1. Incorporate Natural Light Whenever Possible
Maximise daylight in the room with frosted windows or skylights to create a calming, sun-dappled effect. Even small bathrooms benefit from bouncing natural light around with reflective surfaces and light-coloured walls.
2. Use Organic Materials and Textures
Introduce wood, stone, clay, or bamboo through countertops, shelving, or accessories. These textures connect the space to the natural world and add warmth and tactility.
3. Add Lush, Green Plants
Bathrooms are ideal for humidity-loving plants like ferns or peace lilies. Place them on shelves, window sills, or hang them to add depth and softness.
4. Feature Nature-Inspired Art or Surfaces
Our custom shower panels are excellent to help depict serene landscapes, forest scenes, or botanical prints that can create a strong biophilic focal point in the room.
5. Choose a Calming Earthy Colour Palette
Think forest greens, stone greys, sky blues, and soft sand tones. These colours help ground the space and evoke the tranquility of the natural world.
6. Prioritise Views to Nature
If your bathroom has a view of the outdoors, frame it! Use minimal window treatments or place a mirror to reflect the view and your shower panels, doubling its impact!
Our shower panels offer you a brilliant canvas to create a peaceful, tranquil environment taking you back to nature.
